what we're about.....
Global Performance Institute (GPI) was formed to popularize and expand upon the work of Russell Ackoff, one of the seminal system thinkers of our age, who died recently at the age of 90.

Systems thinkers focus on the performance of a system as a whole, and not on the functioning of the parts. Truly embraced, systems thinking is like architecture which is why we think of ourselves as Organizational Architects.
An architect never starts by asking, “Here are the parts; how do they fit together?” Successful architects first determine the purpose of a system within its larger systems and then optimize the functioning of that system and its parts within the larger system.
We believe that society urgently needs “systems thinking” to be the lens through which its decision-makers and public-policy experts see the world while at the same time, devising better, more inclusive measures of societal success, including accountability mechanisms.
Reductionist thinking has resulted in many organizations and public institutions losing the big picture. The outdated structures and systems of the reductionist world are breaking down. Think of this crisis as a recalibration, a time to learn new ways of being in the world and with each other. This falling apart of the old creates both dangers and great opportunities.
Our mission is to assist our clients to adapt a systemic world view which will allow them to navigate these complex challenges and seize the opportunities to successfully reinvent themselves in this new world that is slowly emerging.
how we work....
We listen, listen and listen some more, then create together with our client teams a compelling vision and the space to allow the solution to emerge. We believe in group dialogue, alignment, quick prototyping, then measure, learn from mistakes, and repeat until success asserts itself.
Our GPI team has worked in a broad range of industries including aerospace, chemicals, computer equipment, data services and software, electronics, energy, food and beverages, healthcare, hospitality, industrial equipment, automotive, insurance, metals, mining, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, utilities, and transportation.
when fully formed, GPI will...
......have three operating units which will focus on organizational design consulting, systems thinking education and research into emerging social systems technologies that can help to eliminate the unintended consequences of our current operating systems so that we learn to live in harmony and dynamic tension with each other and our environment.
